    Let's make a zine!

Would any of ye be on for doing a collaborative, Ireland-wide zine covering DIY punk and associated subcultural stuff? All ideas are welcome. There's too much internet around and we need something grounded in paper. :)

[Dec 13, 2013] Punk comes to Waterford! - SFU, YouNameUs, Checkpoint (Dignity Bar)

For a place the size it is, Waterford is sadly lacking in DIY punk of any description. So I'm going to fix that! Come along on the night and for less than the price of a pint you can experience what the city has been missing out on all these years. It's cathartic, I tell ya! €6 in. Oh yes, and...

Need volunteers for a charity gig in Sligo, December 15th!

Anyone up for it? We can't give a place to sleep but we can do petrol money if you want. It's just another one or two bands/performers we need as the lineup is filling nicely for the moment. Get in touch on my mobile cos I'm not online much these days - 085 7318162. Thanks! Edit: by the way...

Anyone want to play a charity gig in Sligo next month?

We need a couple of bands/performers to volunteer. It's a benefit for the Sathya Sai Sanctuary (www.donkeys.ie), proper good cause and that. We could give some petrol money but we can't give anyone a place to stay. Whoever's on for it, giz a shout on the mobile because I'm hardly ever online...

    Building a scene

How do you go about building interest in a DIY scene apart from just putting on gigs and hoping for the best? What is it about punk/crust/HC that specifically draws people in, and how do you emphasise these things enough to encourage people to get involved? I know there are specific limits to...

Does anyone have copies of "What Do We Do When..." that I could borrow?

There's a new zine out called "Betrayal" which looks into rape culture in anarchist subculture, and I'd like to send the author a few copies of the aforementioned for the sake of comparison. Don't worry, if you can give me a zine I'll just photocopy it and send it back to you! :)

    Squatting goes mainstream!

Question for people new to the Irish punk scene

"New" relatively speaking anyway - this is for those of ye who have got involved or interested in the last 2-3 years, and it's just a question of personal curiosity. What do you feel you've gained, or how have you benefited, from the scene?

Looking for bands to play a benefit

Just having a look around to see if anyone's willing to play Sligo for just food and a floor to crash on? It'd be a benefit for the Sathya Sai Sanctuary (www.donkeys.ie) and will most likely be late March or early April. Cheers.

    New message board!

I've just set up North West Punx, which hopefully will give the scene up in our corner of the country a little lift. Ye're all welcome to participate!

    Streetbank.com

This looks like it could be handy. You register with your address, put up a couple of things you'd be willing to lend out, help with, or whatever, and it gives you access to people doing the same within a mile of where you live. www.streetbank.com

    Cheap records anyone?

I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to lug a crate of records (punk, hardcore, crust, grind and a smattering of metal) to Dublin on Thursday and Belfast on Friday. Selling them cheap - fiver for an LP, 3 for a 10" and 1.50 for a 7". They're all fine, some good stuff there, but I just don't really...
