Torn Hawk plays his first Dublin show on Bank Holiday Sunday May 04. The American musician debuted on Ron Morelli's L.I.E.S. Limited offshoot in 2012 with the arresting 'Tarifa' EP, a standout release in a run of good form from the label, that caused all manner of 33/45rpm confusion. And it set the template for a run of releases on Valcrond Video, No Pain In Pop and Rush Hour's No Label, which mix euphoric Kraut, slo-mo electronica, oddball techno and other made-up genres. His ‘Born To Win (Life After Ghostbusters) split 12” with Black Deer, again on L.I.E.S. Ltd, was on one 2013’s standout moments. His latest release is 'Through Force Of Will' on Not Not Fun, a tape and digital comp of some of his earlier cuts. It's great - so great that Pitchfork gave him a Rising nod in March of this year. Torn Hawk aka Luke Wyatt - also a handy “video mulch” artist and editor of the ‘Video Party’ series for Peoples Potential Unlimited - says he makes “music that sounds like out of time artifacts”, so there you go. He will be playing live, and will feature some of his visuals as an accompaniment. NB - Torn Hawk plays live at 12.30am, with young guns Boya and Daire Carolan on opening duties and Apartment’s disco assassins TR-One bringing the party home.
