i bought an ibanez guitar pedal off thomann in december. worked perfect. i hate wasting batteries so i bought a cheap multi power adaptor in argos for a tenner (or less), set it to 9V everything perfect.

two days ago i went to use it again, it wouldnt turned on okay but instead of any effect i just get static (on or off). i tested the leads/diff equipment etc but no sound at all.

so my question.. on examination the output of my argos friend is 9V/1200mA and the pedal wants 9V/30mA. would this have blown the circuitry? i never thought of looking at the amp rating before.

..either way i sent it back to thomann as faulty but it would be nice to know.

probably fused the circuts allright. Nasty. Batteries are the way to go. THose power supplies always end up as a load of gash unless you buy really really good ones.

yeah, if you're ever recording, use batteries. It's much cleaner power, with none of the ground loop/electricity crap that can add extra noise.

That's an interesting point

Stacy, just in case you haven't checked .........
some power supplies have a Polarity switch (+/-) might be worth checking if it's set the wrong way
